Basal cell carcinoma is a medical condition that begins in the basal cells of the skin. It is a type of skin cancer. 

The basal cells create new cells when the older ones die off. When slight transparent bumps start to appear in the skin basal cell carcinoma may appear. This condition is mostly found in areas around the head, neck and face that are exposed to the sun rays. 

Why Basal Cell Cancer Occurs?

This type of skin cancer occurs when the skin gets exposed to sun rays for prolonged periods. The UV rays of the sun cause the cells to turn cancerous. It is therefore advised to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen before going out in the sun. 

What Are The Symptoms Of Basal Cell Cancer?
  • Basal cell cancer appears as certain changes in the skin such as rash growth or sore that does not heal. Some distinct symptoms that help identify this skin cancer are as follows.
  • The skin may appear pearly white with pink bumps that are generally translucent. You may also see tiny blood vessels through the bumps. Darker skin people will have darker lesions. It is common to find this skin condition on the face and ears. The lesions sometimes rupture and may bleed.
  • Some may get brown, black or blue lesions that are slightly raised with translucent border.
  • Many get scaly and reddish patches on the skin. The edges may be raised. This type of change occurs on the back or chest.
  • The least common type of basal cell cancer is the morpheaform. In this condition, an individual gets a waxy type scar-like lesion.
