What is survival Rates for Ovarian Cancer?

Ovarian cancer is the second most common cancer in women. The diagnosis of ovarian cancer is not a death sentence; however, its prognosis depends typically upon the fact when the cancer is detected in the body. Unfortunately, the survival rate of ovarian cancer is not very high.

According to the cancer specialist in Delhi, the 5-year survival rate for all kinds as well as stages of ovarian cancer is 47 percent only. A relative survival rate helps to compare the people who are suffering from cancer with those in the general population. This precisely means that the people suffering from any kind of ovarian cancer have 47 percent of the chances of survival as likely as people without it in order to live for at least 5 years after being diagnosed with cancer.




Ovarian cancer treatment is possible after the diagnosis of cancer. The biggest problem and challenge before the doctors is that only 15 percent of the total ovarian cancer is diagnosed before getting spread to the other parts of the body. Thus, only a little population of women survives with ovarian cancer. 

Although, ovarian cancer treatment is possible, the early symptoms of this cancer usually go unnoticed by the people. Ovarian cancer is mostly diagnosed at the later stages which lead to a lower rate of cure of this cancer. 

The major symptoms of ovarian cancer include abdominal bloating or swelling, weight loss which is unexplained, feeling full quickly after eating, discomfort in the pelvis, changes in bowel habits, a frequent need to pee, etc. Unfortunately, all these symptoms are considered to be vague symptoms which could also be caused because of other reasons.
