Symptoms & Causes of liver cacer in women

The liver is a football-sized organ that is placed in the upper right portion of the abdomen. It is placed beneath the diaphragm and above the stomach. The liver can be a hub of several types of cancer, especially in women.

The most common type of cancer is hepatocellular carcinoma. It begins in the main type of cells in the liver also known as hepatocytes. Other but less common types of liver cancer are intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and hepatoblastoma.

Symptoms

Most common symptoms of Liver Cancer are:-

1.Loss of weight without any reason
2.Lack of appetite
3.Nausea and vomiting
4.Pain in the upper abdomen
5.Weakness and fatigue
6.Swelling in the abdomen
7.Yellow discolouration of the skin and eye whites
8.White and chalky stools

Cancer can happen due to a variety of reasons. In this case, it happens because the liver cells develop mutations in their DNA which is unwanted. The DNA of the cell provides instructions and information for every chemical process in the body. DNA changes either disrupt or make the instruction completely obsolete making the cell a non-functioning one. One result of the mutation can be that of the cells may begin to grow uncontrollably and then group together to form a tumour. A tumour is a mass of cells that can be cancerous or benign.

Causes of Liver Cancer

Sometimes the cause of liver cancer in women cannot be pinpointed to a direct source. It can happen due to a chronic case of liver illnesses or chronic hepatitis infections. But it can happen to completely healthy people too who have no history of liver diseases. Primary liver cancer tends to occur in individuals who have damaged livers due to birth defects, alcohol abuse, or other infections. Whereas more than half of all the people diagnosed with primary liver cancer have cirrhosis which is caused by alcohol abuse. Liver cancer may also be caused due to obesity and fatty liver disease.
