WHAT ARE THE THREE TYPES OF BLOOD CANCER ?
Bone marrow and blood cells are affected by blood cancer. Blood cells are made inside the spongy tissue that is inside the bone in our body that is called bone marrow. This cancer changes the way our blood cells work and also affects the efficiency of our blood cells.
The three types of blood cancers are:
- Leukemia
- Lymphoma
- Myeloma
Leukemia
When people have white blood cells that cannot fight infections then that is called leukemia. There are two types of leukemia that are Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) and Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). In acute leukemia, there are a huge amount of lymphocytes formed and these lymphocytes then go on around crowding the healthy white blood cells. Due to this healthy white blood cells are not able to function properly. In CLL the same thing happens but the process of a surrounding of the white blood cell is slower than that of ALL. This is a very common cancer and is efficiently cured.
Lymphoma
When cancer occurs in the lymph system of the human body then the type of cancer is called lymphoma lymph nodes, spleen, and thymus gland are included in the lymph system. There are two main types of Lymphoma-like Hodgkin's lymphoma and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Weak immune systems are a big reason for Lymphoma.
Myeloma
When cancer directly affects the plasma cells in the bone marrow then it is called as Myeloma. White blood cells that create antibodies are called plasma cells. This cancer is found in many parts of the bone marrow that is why it is also called Multiple Myeloma. This type of blood cancer mostly occurs to age groups over the age of 50. All three type of blood cancer can be cured provided they are treated at the best cancer specialist hospital in India.
